SPOTLIGHT FOR SIRUVANI
April 3-5, 2015 | Niagara Falls
OUR MOTIVATION
Often in our lives, we asked to name a life changing event, that one moment that stops you in your tracks. Our 3 day visit to CORD Siruvani was one such event. Our yatri group had the fortune to meet one of the most loving, devoted and selfless group of individuals. Dr. Meera Krishna (CORD Siruvani project coordinator) and her team live a life of sacrifice and service, and always give more than what they take. The level of dynamism, energy, and commitment exemplified by their team is inspiring, and an empowerment to all those who volunteer.
We had an opportunity to witness and participate in all the work that gets done in the community, from healthcare services, value-based education, women empowerment groups and sanitation initiatives, to name a few.
We realized that the 3 days of seva that we participated in was only a drop in the ocean and our efforts should continue even while being back in North America. Just as seva in Siruvani is non-stop, so should our efforts be.
That is why the yatris of the Chinmaya Inspiration Yatra III have resolved to raise $25,000 for CORD Siruvani in an effort to help build a new center. This new center will provide necessary healthcare, vocational training, an auditorium, and an audio visual center for local villagers.
